Closed Circuit Television
for Herzogin-Elisabeth-Hospital
End-to-end solution including recording based on
SiemACCS®
The Herzogin-Elisabeth-Hospital (HEH) in Braunschweig, Germany, has opted for digital video surveillance of its premises, both indoors and outdoors, in both old and new buildings. The end-to-end solution, which consists of 15 cameras, a control center, a video transmission system and a digital network video recorder for recording the images supplied by all the cameras, is based on SiemACCS®, a product developed by Siemens Programm- und Systementwicklung GmbH & Co. KG.
Herzogin-Elisabeth-Hospital, a foundation under German law having legal capacity, comprises a general hospital with a surgical and internal medicine clinic in a historic building and an orthopedic clinic housed in a new-build. Given that a HiPath interoffice communication system from Siemens had recently been installed, it was an obvious choice to rely on the same trusted supplier when it came to acquiring a CCTV system.
SiemsACCS®, the Siemens Advanced Communication and Control System finally chosen by HEH, a product developed entirely by Siemens Programm- und Systementwicklung GmbH & Co. KG, provides integrated multi-service solutions based on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
The SiemACCS® CCTV module offers manual and event-driven video surveillance and MPEG2/4 video compression. A permanent ring buffer saves the history of events.
The hospital relies on the SiemACCS® solution to monitor entrance areas, pay machines, parking spaces, and its outdoor premises. Automatic 48-hour-storage of all video recordings with an image quality similar to that found on DVD makes it possible to reconstruct security incidents in full detail and, where necessary, filter out perfect facial images from the video material as needed for police search activities.
Given its ease of integration, the SiemACCS® solution, which was installed by Siemens Programm- und Systementwicklung GmbH & Co. KG and began to operate since December 2006, is a future-proof investment that combines various possibilities of evaluating incident information. In the future it is possible, for instance, to combine emergency call service and fire service alarms, access control systems and nurse call systems with video recordings and to connect them to SiemACCS® emergency phones. |
